Inverness Blitz

Committee

The Inverness Blitz is run by a management committee.  Board members are voted in at the Annual General Meeting by the membership.  It should be noted that all elected committee members are volunteers.

David Paulin
President
 

David has always had an interest in sport having competed in long distance running and cycling. His interest in American Football started in the 80s. In the late 90s he started the Inverness Blitz (a 5-a-side youth flag team) which has now grown into the organisation it is today. In 2003 Dave was nominated by the Scottish Claymores as BBCs Unsung Sporting Hero. He went on to win the Scottish Unsung Sporting Hero for his work in American Football and attend the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards in London. He is involved in coaching many of the Inverness Blitz teams and is now sitting an HND in Sports Coaching with the Development of Sport at Inverness College. Dave currently sits as Treasurer for the SFFA.

David Ronald
Vice-President

Orignally playing for the Elgin Eagles David Ronald is now an active member in the Inverness Blitz and the sport at a national level. In 2002 David passed his Flag Football Leaders Award and is working towards becoming a BAFCA Level 2 coach. In 2004 he was nominated for Moray Council Sports Man of the Year and in 2005 was selected to play for Scotland Youth Kitted. He coaches the Lineman for the Highland Wildcats and Moray Firth Dolphins and is Head Coach for the Moray Maniacs Flag Youth team. In 2006 he became Assistant Youth Coach for SDS and sits on the SFFA committee as a general committee member.

Lynne Rennie
Secretary
Lynne enjoys being involved with the sports her children are interested in and got involved with Blitz this season. She is currently the Welfare Officer for the Youth and Junior Flag teams and she completed the Flag Football Leaders Award in April 2006 at Inverness College. She was also secretary for 3 years with Inverness Gymnastic Club having being a general committee member previously. She is currently employed with the Highland Council as a Learning Support Auxiliary in a school nursery
Bette Paulin
Treasurer / Child Protection Officer / Registration Secretary

Holding academic qualifications in social care Bette was one of the founding members of the Inverness Blitz and still takes an active role in the organisation. Bette has been a Miami Dolphins fan since the 80s. She is now a Flag Football Leader having passed the award in 2001 under the instruction of NFL WR Scott Couper. Bette's responsibilities in the Blitz also include Manager with the Highland Wildcats and Moray Firth Dolphins and assisting many of the other teams. Her duties expand to a national level as she currently sits as Scotland Development Squad Manager.

Craig Stewart
Media Liaison Officer
 

Craig has had experience in fund raising and practical coaching having raised over £1000 for a school trip to Uganda and coaching Soccer to primary school children in the Merkinch area. He has got a keen interest in sport and is developing an interest in media. He is no a full time volunteer with the Inverness Blitz on the ProjectScotland Programme helping to publisise and promote American Football.

Robbie Paulin
Development Officer

Holding an HND in Sports Coaching with Sports Development, Robbie has over 7 years of coaching experience in both Kitted and Flag Football. In 2001 he was selected to play Quarterback for the Scotland Youth Kitted Squad. Robbie is currently coaching in the Youth Scotland Flag teams and also sits as the SFFA Vice-Presendent. Nationally he has won awards for his coaching including the Whitbread Young Achievers Award and was runner up Young Sports Coach of the year at the sportscoachUK Awards in 2005 and won the award in 2006. Robbie has a keen interest in Strength and Conditioning and is currently studying to become a strength and conditioning practitioner with the UKSCA.

Karen Daltrey
General Committee Member
 

Karen became involved with Inverness Blitz because of her eldest sons enthusiasm for and enjoyment of the game. She moved from Cornwall to Inverness with her family three and a half years ago and since that time her sons life has revolved around American Football! Karen is Chair person of the PTA at Culbokie Primary School which her younger son attends.She is currently employed by Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Highland Hospice being part of their respective Nurse Bank Support.
