It couldn't be easier to get involved in playing American Football with the Inverness Blitz.  There are teams at all age levels covering the different disciplines (flag and contact) of American Football so there is something for everybody.  Whether you are 12 years old and want to play non-contact American Football or 32 years old and want to don a helmet and shoulder pads and hit the field you'll find a place in one of the Inverness Blitz teams / programmes!

Okay so how do you get started? 

Most younger participants get involved through their school.  The Blitz runs many flag football programmes in local primary and secondary schools throughout the year.  From these PE sessions and / or afterschool clubs local teams will be set up.  These teams will compete in a local league and friendly games. 

In 2008 players from these local squads / programmes will be selected for the relevant Highland Wildcats flag squad for their age group.  The Wildcats squads then compete in national leagues playing teams from all around UK.

As well as flag football there is of course the opportunity to play contact American Football.  For 12 - 13 year olds the Inverness Blitz offers clinics (generally during the school summer holidays) to give younger particiapants a taste of the kitted game.  For anybody age 14 and over there is a Highland Wildcats squad at all relevant age groups completing in national leagues.

If there is no flag football programme being run in your school at present you should speak to your active school co-ordinator or contact the Inverness Blitz directly!  This is also true if you are interested in getting involved in contact football!

If you are no longer in school or are over 18 it is still really easy to get involved.  You have the opportunity to join local youth or senior flag teams.  For contact football you can contact the Blitz and try out for the Highland Wildcats Youth or Senior squad.
